Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual to join the Engineering/Facilities team in a growing pharmaceutical development company.  In the role of mechanical technician role we expect you to be flexible and adaptable and be able to troubleshoot problems. The successful candidate will be able to perform planned maintenance activities on a wide range of facilities equipment (e.g. HVAC, air compressors) but also perform tasks on larger chemical processing equipment.

The role involves planned maintenance activities as well as reactive maintenance and being on call typically one week in every five to deal with breakdowns.

Tthe candidate should have a strong background in mechanical maintenance in commercial premises.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Be proactive and work as part of the Engineering Team on a day to day basis
  • Ensure that planned and unplanned maintenance is carried out in a timely manner and  right first time
  • Help to ensure GMP, and EHS compliance at all times
  • Help to ensure other relevant regulatory compliance (e.g. legionella, PED, F-gas)


Qualifications and Experience


  • Engineering related qualification
  • Excellent communication and proven trouble shooting skills
  • Circa 5 years’ plus experience within a commercial environment




  • Experience of working in a GMP environment
  • Knowledge of GEP


This role would be suited for a mechanical background, as opposed to an electrical background. 



The role involves being on call 1 week in 5.

Instrument/calibration engineer


An experienced instrument and calibration engineer is required for our client based in Oxfordshire, with a number of years experience working in a regulated environment,  conversant with various standards of calibration and experienced with calibration and repair/maintenance of:


Temperature probes/transmitters

Pressure gauges/transmitters

Balances (UKAS calibrated)

Various sensors and probes (especially Rosemount brand)

Magnahuelic gauges


Experience in regulated industries would be a distinct advantage especially within GMP facilities

Quality Manager


£45k - £50k

North West of England

Our client is currently looking to add a Quality Manager to their team in the North West of England.

The key responsibilities will include:

-Maintain and manage all elements of compliance to ISO Level Quality management systems

-Manage operation quality of staff within the laboratory and manufacturing

-Support and complete raw material, intermediates and finished products testing

-Help resolve customer issues and internal process gaps as part of continuous improvement

-Review product test results, analyse trends and perform internal audits on key processes

-Review and update operational or quality related KPI’s and drive implementation of key quality manager lead initiatives

-Work with internal technical groups to review material or product specifications, resolve product or operational quality problems, and address questions and concerns.

-Support the Investigation and resolution of:

            Product performance customer complaints.

            Manufacturing related product quality problems.

            Quality Control (QC) related Quality Incidents

            Non-conformities raised on site


-Review and update new materials or formulas based on operational and customer problems and suggestions, plant environment, and work with appropriate teams to approve and implement changes

-Support & co-ordinate the review of a variety of quality reports to examine compliance, audit operations, results of documentation, ensure operational efficiency and quality, and demonstrate compliance with internal and external quality standards.

-Compile & analyse QC laboratory Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reporting and improvement

-Collaborate with Technical teams, assess and improve QC test methods and specifications using Quality tools (such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) - Reliability of test methods

-Conduct routine internal audits in accordance with Site and regional audit plans.

-Support the Laboratory procedures to ISO9001 & coordinate QC equipment maintenance. 

-Support the Administration of Valtrack process

-Support the compliance with department policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations

-Manage local operational quality staff to deliver on daily operational quality activities and where needed providing guidance to Quality staff.



The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Operations Management, Chemistry or related and will have worked in a quality assurance/control environment with relevant experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably coatings.

You will have experience in directly managing staff, applying quality management principles and practices and investigating operational/product problems. Previously analysing and reviewing of quality data to support the generation and maintenance of KPI reports and documents is also essential for the role.

Site Materials Planner


Salary up to £35k

North West of England 

Our client is looking for a Site Materials Planner to ensure that products are delivered on time and in meet the customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

- Exnsure that the Raw Materials needed are ordered in a timely and accurate manner and planning forward orders with suppliers.

- Manage the staging of open orders

- Manage the completion of returns, invoicing and credits.

- Place orders for direct materials and finished goods in line with the needs of the business

- Manage the bulk tank readings in order to accurately manage the replenishment of stock      

- Managing blanket or forecasted call off orders.

- Manage indirect purchases and process the accompanying requisitions in terms of prices and the actual orders.

- Management of the master purchasing data records for suppliers and price files, ensuring both are up-to-date and accurate.

- Day to day expediting of delivery challenges and management of raw material ‘stock out’ situations, using initiative and experience to find innovative or alternative solutions to raw material supply constraints.

- Participate in supplier meetings.

- Day to day Supplier relationship management for the site, managing the reconciliation of supplier issues to the satisfaction of the department.

- Completion of supplier audits, as appropriate, ensuring their processes and procedures conform to best practice and support the demands of our business.

- Management of supplier selection where multi-source options are available at a site level.

- Managing the ‘none conformance system’ for incoming raw materials ensuring all purchase orders are reconciled in line with agreed terms and conditions.

- Consignment stock administration & control to support working capital release initiatives.

- Manage the Performance measurement system of our supplier base, including Vendor Rating.

- Responsibility for the security of uninterrupted supply of all materials.

- Drive improvements in service performance, as measured by customer satisfaction, operational measures and productivity, by deploying best practices.

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external customers and suppliers in order to ensure that supply chain targets are achieved.


The ideal candidate will have worked in materials planning in supply chain and will have good knowledge and understanding of the Oracle ERP Systems. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) is also essential.
