Laboratory Manager - Water Microbiology

Full-time, Permanent

Job Summary

My client is a world leader in food and environmental testing, offering an exciting opportunity as a Laboratory Manager – Water Microbiology to join our expanding team and be part of our growing business.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the day to day running of the Water Microbiology Laboratory, ensuring it is appropriately resourced and staff are adequately trained, ensuring all analysis and tasks are performed in accordance with Quality procedures and satisfy the requirements of ISO17025, and the appropriate regulatory guidelines

- Ensure all reasonable steps are taken to achieve accuracy, reliability and repeatability of test results including providing hands on support in the laboratory when required.

- Review of methods/SOPs and method validations

- Report and communicate results to clients with a high level of quality and technical competence.

- Follow up on sample status and deliver on time results for the clients

- Ensure any deviations from the method or documented protocol are recorded as non-conforming work and carry out an internal investigation to establish the root cause, impact on customer results and implement CAPA’s where appropriate.

- Work closely with the Technical and Quality teams to close out audit findings and resolve technical/quality issues

- Act as a key contact for customers, and coordinate the service between the laboratory and the customer and may be required to visit some clients.

 

Ideal Candidate

-Degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, or other related scientific subject

- In depth knowledge of UKAS and ISO 17025 methods

- Management experience in a water testing laboratory

- Excellent business and industry acumen

- Strong supervisory, including coaching, and project management skills

- Involvement in industry bodies or professional associations.

Analytical Service Manager

 

My client are the world leader in environmental and food testing, offering an exciting opportunity as an Analytical Service Manager – Water to join their expanding team based in Camberley and be part of our growing business.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

-Assist the laboratory in applying the best practice and interpretation of results

-Report and communicate results to clients and to issue client certificates and out of specifications

-Ensure all reasonable steps are taken to achieve accuracy, reliability and repeatability of test results

-Generate client specific reports with conclusions with a high level of quality and technical competence

-Assist and advise on the selection of appropriate tests, act as the principal contact for customers, and coordinate the service between the laboratory and the customer

-Support the sales team in the identification of customers’ needs and recommendation of testing requirements

-Raising and investigating customer queries and complaints

-Keep up to date with current techniques, topics and legislation that order to advise the company and its customers on accurate implementation of their requirements

-Day to day management of the Microbiology accounts, to include some client visits

 

Key requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, or other relevant scientific subject

- Practical knowledge of commercial laboratory operation

- Practical knowledge of analytical water microbiology

- Practical experience within a food / water industry environment; UKAS laboratory or similar industry laboratory

Key Responsibilities:

- Leads projects/teams in the review and analysis of business processes to improve quality and efficiency with measurable improvements.

- Participates with management to develop project objectives, such as outlining project requirements, scope, resources, team members, tasks, and project owners.

- Leads meetings to review and examine project completion, obstacles, problem resolution, timelines, recommendations, and conclusions.

- Leads or performs analysis that involve the application of advanced LSS principles and practices.

- Coordinates site management and project owners to implement new processes or guidelines, determines improvements, identify and track savings, develop reports, and receive approval when required.

- Coaches Green Belts, Yellow Belts, and assists with LSS training as required.

- Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

-Progressive professional experience (3+ years of management level experience -preferred)

-Green Belt Trained (Green Belt certified preferred)

- Co-ordinate and maintain CRM system (Sales Force)

- Input accurate project data onto the CRM system

- Validate sales leads and project specifications through internet searches and lead subscription providers and contacting relevant specifiers/contractors where required

- Distribute and progress weekly project actions with the sales team

- Initiate and maintain direct contact with specifiers to obtain project information where required

- Attend CPD presentations and visits to specifiers and contractors

- Attend regional project team meetings and sales team meetings

- Raise purchase orders on behalf of the project and sales teams

My client, based in Cambs, is seeking an Email-Marketing Assistant, responsible for creating and distributing adhoc and nurturing email campaigns in-line with the marketing plan and brand guidelines. This position includes the set up and distribution of individual email marketing campaigns as well as the maintenance and review of templates within the client marketing automation system. 

Primary responsibilities:

 

-Create, deploy, and monitor email marketing campaigns using the Pardot marketing automation platform; including ad hoc email campaigns, and nurture/drip-based and trigger automated email communications

-Ensure that there’s brand consistency across all campaigns and messages

-Help to create and test new email marketing templates and direct marketing communications

-Analyse and report on the success of adhoc and automated email marketing campaigns, providing suggestions and ideas for future campaigns

-Ensure accurate and targeted database selection including segment optimisation

-Create timely communications across marketing automation workflows, increasing customer engagement

-Carrying out A/B testing on adhoc and automated marketing campaigns to maximise results

-Assist with the production of the overall marketing plan for the coming year

 

Secondary responsibilities:

-Assist with the day to day maintenance and administrative tasks associated with Pardot marketing automation software such as updating images, organisation of lists and campaigns

-Assist with the management of the email database, checking the quality of the email addresses

-Cleaning up the bounce backs from email marketing campaigns, including updating any changed information of prospects within the database

 

Essential experience:
