Cryptosporidium Leader

Location: Camberley, Surrey

My client are the world leader in food and environmental testing, offering an exciting opportunity as a Cryptosporidium Leader to join our expanding team based in Camberley and be part of their growing business.

 

Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

- Preparation and analysis of samples as required

- Preparation of reagents in line with methods and standards, and carry out stock check and placing orders of laboratory consumables

- Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly

- Ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the Laboratory Quality Manual.

- Checking missing samples report and inform ASM and Laboratory Coordinator if any missing or extra samples in the section

- Assist in the investigation of non-conformance works

- To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.

- Provide training to other members of the team who do not have Cryptosporidium experience

 

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of ISO, UKAS, audit procedures and methods, and have good laboratory skills and practices as well as Microbiology techniques. Proven experience of Cryptosporidium analysis is essential; applications without will not be considered.

Microbiologist

Location: Midlands

- Reading plates, confirmation and validation of analytical results as required.

- Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.

- To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.

- Reporting and/or calculation of results in accordance with the methods of analysis.

- Ensuring that daily targets are achieved, maintaining turnaround time at >99%.

- Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

 

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, or other relevant Life Science subject, and will have substantial experience working in an accredited Laboratory – a working knowledge of ISO 17025 is essential. A high level of knowledge, and competence, of Microbiology techniques, to include experience of counting and interpretation of pathogens, spoilage and indicator organisms, is necessary for the role. Having previous experience of confirming microorganisms thorough use of biochemical techniques is significantly advantageous.

Job Description

My client are a leading research institute that specialise in research and analysis of genomics to help tackle global challenges through life science research.

 

Main purpose of role;

-You will be responsible for the delivery and management of the critical software infrastructure to support the group including the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

-The LIMS will need to support a customer portal, automated communications, transparency of lab operations and audit trail. It will also need to deliver management reporting for the genomic platforms.

-You will report to the Project Management Team Leader, working closely with the rest of the group, ensuring the LIMS contributes to the efficient, effective and safe operations of the laboratory work. You will also be responsible for the Quality Assurance and Documentation for the LIMS.

-Additional responsibilities for maintenance and integration via RESTful and non-RESTful APIs with the LIMS system is anticipated.

-The group may consider other LIMS and you will take a leading role in the implementation of any new LIMS.

 

Role responsibilities;

-Plan and manage daily work and a programme of development work, working part of a team or independently.

-Maintain the LIMS system ensuring continued function following the inclusion of new features, and to provide timely bug fixes. Assist with investigations into system and user issues or trouble shooting.

-Work with the Genomics Pipeline and Regulatory Genomics Group to identify a roadmap for LIMS.

-Consider best practice on other LIMS and consider how these could be incorporated into the LIMS.

-Integrate the LIMS with additional systems.

-Aid the external developer and user communities by providing accurate up to date documentation and support.

-Continually assess the LIMS system and consider strategic changes in IT infrastructure.

-Support the development and roll out of new systems, and be responsible for future upgrades, and bespoke coding required for the group.

 

 

 

Ideal candidate essentials;

-Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or Information Technology, or similar significant experience in software development.  

-Experience in successful software development projects using established development methodologies.

-Provable experience in Java, preferable including Spring, Java EE, JSPs/ servlets.

-Ability to work flexibly when required and able to travel and work non- conventional work pattern at times.
